About UPSC

The UPSC Combined Central Armed Police Force (CCAPF) examination is a national-level competitive examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

The selection process involves a written examination, physical standards/physical efficiency tests, and medical standards tests, followed by an interview/personality test. Successful candidates are appointed as Assistant Commandants in the various CAPFs.

The CCAPF examination is considered one of India’s most prestigious and sought-after government job examinations, and it is open to both male and female candidates.

UPSC CPF Assistant Commandant 2022 Selection process

The selection process for UPSC CPF Assistant Commandant 2022 consists of three stages:

  1. Written Examination: The first stage is a written examination conducted by the UPSC. The examination is objective type and consists of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 includes questions from General Ability and Intelligence, and Paper 2 includes questions from General Studies, Essays, and Comprehension.
  2. Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests: Candidates who qualify for the written examination will be called for the Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests. These tests are conducted to check the physical fitness and medical fitness of the candidates.
  3. Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who clear the Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency and Medical Standards Tests will be called for an Interview/Personality Test. The test is conducted to assess the candidate’s personality traits, leadership qualities, and mental abilities.

Final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in all three stages of the selection process. Candidates who clear all three stages are recommended for appointment as Assistant Commandants in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) such as Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
