UPPSC UPPCS Exam Pattern

The UPPSC UPPCS (Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services) Examination pattern consists of three stages: Prelims Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview.

  1. Prelims Exam: The UPPSC UPPCS Prelims Exam is conducted in two papers: General Studies-I and General Studies-II (CSAT). The General Studies-I paper consists of questions on Indian Polity and Governance, the Indian Economy, Current Events of National and International Importance, the History of India and Indian National Movement, General Science, and Environmental Ecology and Biodiversity.

    The General Studies-II (CSAT) paper tests the candidate’s comprehension, interpersonal skills, communication skills, logical reasoning, analytical ability, decision-making ability, problem-solving ability, basic numeracy, and English language comprehension skills.

    All papers are descriptive in nature, and candidates must write answers in a booklet. Each paper is of 200 marks, except the Essay paper which is of 150 marks. The time duration for each paper is 3 hours.
  3. Interview: Candidates who qualify for the Mains Exam will be called for the Interview. It is conducted for 100 marks and tests the candidate’s personality, general knowledge, and communication skills.

The final merit list is prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the Mains Exam and Interview. The weightage of the Mains Exam and Interview is 85% and 15%, respectively.
